Job Description

Salary: Grade E (NSP 15) FTE £30,024 per annum. Actual salary £17,818 per annum

Contract: 31.25hrs per week, 40 weeks per year. Permanent

We are looking for a well-qualified and highly competent person to join our team as a Parent Support Advisor and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL). This is a vital role within the school and provides a crucial link between families and school focused on ensuring that all children are enabled to thrive emotionally, socially and academically.

The successful applicant will work closely with school colleagues to ensure positive outcomes for pupils through engaging with families to break down barriers that may be preventing full engagement in their child’s education. You will be the school’s Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and work closely with other school safeguarding officers and external agencies. Alongside this, you will be working with the SEND and Inclusion Lead to provide administrative and practical support for families with SEND pupils.

This position would suit someone with significant experience in an educational setting and a secure understanding of local agencies, processes and organisations that provide support to children and their families.

The successful candidate should:

  • have experience of working to overcome barriers to learning and well-being and enabling greater engagement of families with school and related services
  • have experience of a child centred approach to providing and procuring support
  • be able to develop links with a wide range of stakeholders: children, parents, governors and the full range of outside agencies who work closely with the school
  • be capable of dealing with sensitive, confidential issues and complex and challenging case work
  • have the ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload
  • be interested in and willing to take on CPD opportunities to extend their skill base.

We welcome and encourage visits to the school. Visits will take place on a 1:1 basis. Please contact Jenna Blake in the school office on 01752 224801 to book a visit.

Applications can be accessed from the school website.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A DBS disclosure is required for this post. Shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online profile check.
