Job Description

Hours per week: Full time or part time hours will be considered x 39 weeks per year (School Term Time Only)

Salary: PLP Grade 5 FTE £26,300 - £29,069 Actual salary: £22,805 - £24,894 (Based on FTE 37 hours per week)

An Enhanced DBS Check is required

A full current driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential to this role

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Family Learning Mentor to join our team and make a positive difference to the lives of children, young people and their families.

As a Family Learning Mentor, you will work closely with children, parents/carers, schools and other professionals to provide early intervention, emotional support and practical guidance to identify and overcome challenges that may be affecting a child’s wellbeing, learning, behaviour or attendance promoting a child centred approach.

You will be working with families of primary and secondary aged children as part of a collaborative team committed to sharing professional practice, offering regular supervision, and supporting your professional development.

As a Family Learning Mentor, you will:

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children, young people and families
  • Provide mentoring and emotional support to children
  • Support parents and carers with practical strategies to help them understand and respond to their child’s needs
  • Work alongside schools to identify barriers and help strengthen home–school relationships
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and partner agencies to ensure children and families receive the right support at the right time
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to assessments, reviews and support planning

Experience of working with children, families, schools or within a support/mentoring role would be desirable.
